The Data Platform Foundations Tech Business Analyst will play a key role in performing requirements gathering, impact analysis, testing and change management/comms/training for the delivery of the target state EGL enterprise data platform and transition of EGL core data assets from shared platforms to the new EGL enterprise data platform.   

The role will work with stakeholders and perform system analysis to gather functional and non-functional requirements, perform technical and functional impact analysis and provide key input into the transition/build plan. This role will act as the bridge between the data stream and the BAU data platform team, ensuring a smooth transition into BAU. They will work closely with the Analytics & Reporting stream to ensure that the plans align with the Pillar Analytics & Reporting transition plans.
 
This is a hands-on role that will work closely with external SIs who will ultimately deliver the plan.

The Analyst will have a proven track record of successfully translating between technical and business requirements, understanding the impacts of solutions on business needs/processes and costs, and the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders at a variety of levels within the business. The role is a critical conduit in supporting the team throughout the project lifecycle.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Taking the direction from the Data - Data Foundations Stream Lead, the Analyst will collaborate with the SME’s as well as other Business Analysts and/or Technical and Business and Functional Leads to identify and agree on the foundations business and technical requirements.
  • Assists in documenting, reviewing, and supporting approvals of the project scope/requirements in their area (data pipelines, models and reporting to be delivered on the data platform).
  • Participates in workshops and ensures the inclusion of relevant team members from the business to validate the design being implemented. 
  • Works with the Pillar, Technical and Business Teams to ensure all possible due diligence is carried out to provide confidence of the implementation prior to the go live. 
  • There may be a need to travel to stores and/or interstate offices to gather requirements.
  • Supports testing, where required, assisting to create test scripts, perform testing, and provide potential solutions to resolve errors. Supports system unit and integration testing as required including checking test results and identifying re-work and revalidation after subsequent corrections. 
  • Works together with Integration and Data Engineers and System Owners to ensure that data sources within the solution are validated, leading to the successful delivery of data pipelines, modelling and reporting on the analytics platform. 

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • 3-5+ years of experience in an insights driven business and/or data analyst role. 
  • Advanced proficiency in various data and insight based software, including but not limited to Excel, Google Sheets, database querying and Tableau
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong change management and leadership skills to effectively support the implementation’s change initiatives through the change team.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, facilitate, and negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to motivate others, track progress, and collaborate effectively with peers.
  • Sound judgement in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Able to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Positive and ‘can do’ attitude.
