The Facilities Manager - Waste & Sustainability is responsible for developing and maintaining the Endeavour waste strategy, including managing and supporting the retail and hotel businesses on the day to day services

The role is responsible for managing Endeavour's environmental data including maintaining the Environmental Management System, building governance to support the accuracy and completeness of the data and to prepare the business to report against incoming mandatory ESG disclosures and improve internal reporting requirements.

This role will also include working with the Endeavour Sustainability team to explore sustainability opportunities that will help reduce waste going to landfill, support the transition to more recyclable materials and more recycled content used across our sites.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Manage all current waste contracts in place and work with consultants and Group Procurement to identify and deliver commercial arrangements where required
  • Develop education & training programs for all Endeavour teams on the optimal management of waste and recycling within business activities
  • Develop and support new waste minimisation initiatives - including store collateral contained in the physical form
  • Management of opex & capex projects from planning to completion
  • Preparation of operational transition implementation plans as it relates to any transition projects and delivery of the implementation plans
  • Demonstrate savings from all source separation & diversion activities
  • Optimise resource recovery service arrangements that provide our stores and hotels with the most efficient back of house operation
  • Assist with initiation and delivery of new waste / recycling management initiatives for all business areas that will drive behavioural change
  • Define/determine the most appropriate end use or disposal of our waste
  • Analysis of current and future waste disposal costs
  • Develop ongoing tracking mechanisms for waste diversion
  • Manage service contractor performance by liaising with contractors, support teams and store or hotel managers
  • Support the format and build on sustainability SME advice regarding fittings & fixtures
  • Develop a comprehensive sustainability strategy
  • Coordinate the activity of all project participants and stakeholders 
  • Monitor the ongoing progress of all project activity to ensure that unsuccessful initiatives are not sustained 
  • Provide ongoing status updates on project deliverables to all stakeholders
  • Provision of advice on billing issues and creation of summarised performance & exception reports that identify opportunities
  • Coordinate activity of consultants and group procurement to ensure favourable outcomes for any service contracts 
  • Ensure all new commercial waste arrangements meet all Endeavour standards and requirements including SH&E and Food Safety
  • Ensure that ongoing management is in place for all arrangements that are implemented as part of any project

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, sustainability and/or engineering discipline 
  • 3 to 5 years minimum in waste management/environmental consulting, driving business improvement for best practice
  • 2 to 4 years minimum in sustainability and/or circular economy management, with experience on delivering truly “green” projects
  • Strong understanding of the end to waste & recycling industry
  • Proven ability to initiate and implement waste minimisation & diversion strategies
  • Project management skills, specifically in project initiation, documentation and implementation management
  • Financial analysis skills, especially in cost analysis
  • Well developed presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
