The Functional Lead plays a critical role in designing and implementing robust business solutions for the Marketing, Loyalty and Accommodation teams. Collaborating closely with stakeholder groups, they engage in discussions to identify and understand their needs and requirements. By doing so, they ensure that the developed solutions align seamlessly with the business objectives and address real-world challenges.  

As a key liaison between the business and engineering teams, the Functional Lead, fosters effective communication and knowledge sharing. They ensure that the functional requirements are accurately translated into detailed user stories, work closely with architecture or engineering teams to develop solutions that meet business and technology desired outcomes. This collaborative approach helps streamline the development process and ensures that the final solutions are both efficient and functional.  

Leveraging their expertise in delivery, processes, projects and technology, the Functional Lead provides valuable guidance during project discovery, implementation and subsequent enhancements. They work closely with project teams to define project scope, establish timelines, and identify resources needed for successful execution. Their deep understanding of technology, project delivery and technological capabilities allows them to make informed decisions, mitigate risks, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.  The Functional Lead is responsible for developing and implementing the processes, templates, change and tracking methods to ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of deliverables produced by the Functional team. Playing a key role in project assurance, The Functional Lead, collaborates closely with business and Digital & Data to ensure that projects are properly aligned with all Endeavour checklists and stage gates.

The Functional Lead has the maturity and experience to evaluate what is needed to inform technical specifications and decision-making, and to identify the best methods for documenting and sharing critical insights with various stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment across teams.  The Functional Lead plays a key role in guiding and mentoring the Functional Analysts (where required). The Functional Lead sets the standard for the functional team and, through peer reviews of work, retros and regular feedback, guides the Functional Analysts to achieve the required standard.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

Business Analysis

• Develop, review and govern functional specifications and documents that define the desired outcome of system enhancements/developments
• Work with external vendors to provide the most effective and efficient solution to meet the business needs
• Proactively engage with stakeholder groups to understand business needs and analyse and translate business needs into solutions
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and system enhancements.
• Present analysis and critical insights to Tech and non-Tech stakeholder groups to drive decision making and alignment 

Projects 

• Lead the functional analysis work in the design, development, and implementation of retail solutions.
• Work closely with the Project team to ensure a smooth transition of the solutions into the business .
• Provide continuous improvement and deliver upgrades/projects across the stores application landscape
• Assist with governance and release of system changes to production
• Work closely with developers, testers, corporate tech to deliver solutions on time and on budget
• Drive team member rituals or cadences to ensure project delivery 

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Oversee the testing process to ensure that solutions meet business requirements and are free of defects.
• Facilitate user acceptance testing UAT and gather stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement. 

Training & Support

• Develop training materials and conduct sessions for end-users to ensure effective adoption of new solutions. Provide ongoing support and guidance to users post-implementation. 

Industry Knowledge

• Stay current with hospitality industry trends and best practices, providing insights to the team and stakeholders. Collaborate with vendors and partners to leverage external expertise and solutions. 

Now let’s talk about you: 

• Expert and demonstrated experience in Hospitality applications  
• Ability to understand, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate technical solutions.  
• Migration, Troubleshooting experience.
• 2-5 years IT BA experience
• Experienced with regression testing 
• Strong ability in establishing and achieving objectives with changing and often conflicting priorities.
• Highly organised and efficient, with strong attention to detail
• Creates partnerships and teamwork; applies broad business perspective; makes effective decisions
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, demonstrates a logical approach to problem solving 
• Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member within a complex and fast paced environment
• Can demonstrate strong communication, facilitation, negotiating, conflict resolution and influencing skills
• Demonstrate ability to quickly establish strong working relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of business and IT stakeholders from senior management to operational staff including external vendors both on and off shore.
