The Group Solution Manager - Commerce/Customer Experience is a key leadership position within the Technology team. The role is responsible for the overall strategic alignment, and roadmaps fit to the business strategy of the relevant platforms & related systems.  This role comes with Line Management accountability and will have delivery squads.

The role carries the overall ownership of the Commerce/Customer experience technology and how it supports all retail customer journeys and interactions, across researching, searching, ordering, buying, delivery & fulfillment, digital, instore, personalisation, data and back-end core technology systems. The role is responsible for the technical product strategy/lifecycle and working alongside the Tribe Leads, Group Product Managers, business partners and technical teams in how to shape delivery in cost-effective, quality, innovative customer experience technology solutions and services that support the business strategy.

This role is a key influencing Leadership role as well, with non-direct reports coming from Practices

Technology Strategy & Planning

  • Own and maintain the overall technology roadmap, for the Commerce/Cust Exp domain, in partnership with the Business and Technology Leads.

  • Working in partnership with Enterprise Architecture devise platform solutions and guide technical decisions that support the business strategy

  • Work with tribe and technology leaders to provide innovative solutions to meet our Customers evolving needs across digital and physical.

  • Align expectations across the enterprise and deliver a valuable and comprehensive domain roadmap

  • Partner with the business and Architecture teams to drive the review and selection of new solutions and how they fit into the relevant domains (i.e. KDDs)

  • Understand, research and follow technical trends in the industry and in general. Able to assess emerging products and companies to measure their potential value (or threat) as well as make recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage.

  • Explain and market highly complex technical concepts and solutions in a way that allows quality business decisions

  • Proactive leadership on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of platforms and capabilities and highlight opportunities

  • Active involvement in the annual Budget planning process with respect to growth/scale, opportunities or utilization of the respective domain.

Delivery enablement

  • Partner with the Tribe Leads and Product Managers (EDX), Platform Managers (IT) and Endeavour Brands (Pinnacle, ALH, Jimmy, Langtons etc...) to understand customer and business problems and how these translate into our quarterly plans in order to align domain and product roadmaps.

  • Active involvement in the trimester planning process and provide technical advisory to ensure quality plans exist for the objectives, delivery milestones and releases; and align with the domain roadmap.

  • Provide technical leadership (alongside EA/Platform Managers) advice/input into the squad backlog, especially for capabilities/features that are utilized across squads or impact end-to-end customer outcomes.

  • Manage the technical relationship with external technology partners within the domain - including the onboarding of new partners in the domain ecosystem

  • Partner with other Solution and Platform managers to ensure the end-to-end technology stack meets the business strategy and provide input into Tribe & Squad plans

  • Develop metrics and KPIs for performance measurement relating to the domain, Document and report on performance

  • Partner Operations team to ensure they are visibility of business strategy and demand.

  • Contributor to the management of technology partner performance in terms of costs, timeframes, quality to agreed service levels and escalation of non-compliance issues in relation to Sprint deliverables, Negotiate commercial terms and charges

  • Seat on the IT Extended Leadership Team.

 


What do we need from you

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • 7-10+ years IT experience.

  • Large scale IT/Business Transformation Experience.

  • Extensive Technology Management experience, working with end-to-end, complex and high value projects

  • Salesforce Commerce Cloud

  • Solid Experience with Mobile Applications (IOS & Android), Web / Front-end, CMS, Digital Assets platforms, SEO, Search & Browse technologies

  • Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum methodology, disciplines and procedures, and evidence, or ability, to help / guide others on processes

  • Has thorough understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle

  • Digital applications experience - a mix of large, complex technologies, cloud and data are highly favorable

  • Proven ability to execute technology solutions (by driving outcomes)

  • Ability to provide input to technology strategies that enable and inform business strategies

  • Keeps well abreast of industry trends and directions to ensure solutions will provide business with forward compatible, scalable and flexible solutions.

  • Management of external partners across both technical and creative verticals

  • Ability to engage at all levels and communicate clearly and concisely technology solutions, programs and options

  • Competent in financial management of capital and operational expenditure

  • Strong planning capability across time, finances and resources

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly matrixed organization

Desired: 

  • Experience in retail, preferably multi-channel across offline and online channels

  • Technical background such as software development, or equivalent.

  • Enthusiastic and positive leader with a self-directed and self-motivated attitude

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, understand business dynamics, and manage large amounts of data.

  • Influence business strategies through provision of technical alternatives.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills
