Lawyer - Brand & Customer Experience - This is a dynamic 12-month fixed-term contract opportunity for an experienced lawyer (3 - 6 yrs PQE) to play a critical role in supporting the continued growth and operational integrity of Endeavour Group, Australia's leading drinks and hospitality business.

You will provide specialist legal advice across all customer, supplier, and product touchpoints, with a primary focus on Competition and Consumer Law (CCL) matters. Your expertise will be vital in mitigating risk and ensuring compliance across our diverse portfolio of retail brands (e.g., Dan Murphy’s, BWS) and hospitality venues.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Senior Lawyer in managing the CCL aspects of Endeavour Group's strategic acquisitions, including assisting with ACCC assessments and clearance processes to facilitate business expansion.
  • Deliver clear, pragmatic advice to a variety of brands and business functions (including Merchandise, Marketing, and Operations) on competition and consumer law risks, ensuring robust compliance in all operations, from supplier arrangements to customer engagement and communications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing timely advice on complex areas such as information sharing, marketing claims, pricing strategies, and the effective management of high-level customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Lawyer to design and deliver targeted, ongoing CCL training for key teams like Merchandise and Marketing. You will actively monitor ACCC and regulatory developments, translating implications into actionable advice for the business.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to develop and streamline legal processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and embed compliance across the Group.

Where business needs require and capacity permits, you will also provide agile general commercial legal support across other Brand & Customer Experience areas, including marketing, brand governance, loyalty programs, and digital initiatives.

You will report directly to the Senior Lawyer – Brand & Customer Experience and join a collaborative group of 8 lawyers who collectively report into the General Counsel – Regulatory, Brand & Customer Experience. This specialist team is the core legal function responsible for unifying all customer and regulatory touchpoints across the Group.

This is a pivotal opportunity to utilise your specialist competition and consumer legal skills, commercial acumen, and business partnering expertise. You will be instrumental in maintaining Endeavour Group's high standard of competition and consumer law compliance across our diverse portfolio, which includes:

  • Our retail businesses (Dan Murphy’s, BWS)
  • Our hospitality venues (ALH Hotels)
  • Our product businesses (Pinnacle Drinks and our Wineries)
  • Various Corporate Functions.

What do we need from you

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited Australian university.
  • Holds a current, unrestricted or supervised Australian Practising Certificate.
  • 3 - 6 yrs Post-Admission Experience (PQE), with a significant focus on relevant legal areas.
  • Deep knowledge and practical experience advising on the Competition and Consumer Act and the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), specifically relating to:
    • Misleading or Deceptive Conduct and false representations (especially in advertising/marketing)
    • Unfair Contract Terms (UCTs)
    • Consumer Guarantees and product liability/safety.
    • Restrictive Trade Practices (e.g., exclusive dealing, vertical agreements).
  • Prior experience working in-house within a large, complex organisation, particularly in the retail, FMCG, or hospitality sectors (Highly Regarded).
  • Previous experience working at a reputable or top-tier law firm (Highly Regarded).
  • Some experience across digital, data, and brand (desirable).
