As a Lawyer - Regulatory, you will leverage specialist legal expertise and commercial acumen to provide strategic advisory and business-partnering support across a complex, multi-brand landscape. Reporting within the Regulatory, Brand, and Customer Experience Legal Team, the role focuses on high-stakes regulatory matters—including liquor, gaming, tobacco, food, and AML/CTF while offering broader exposure to marketing, consumer law (ACCC), and digital contracts.
You will be responsible for conducting legal research, managing enforcement actions, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in financial crime and operations to ensure cohesive compliance strategies. This position offers a distinct opportunity to drive continuous improvement and provide targeted risk-mitigation advice for iconic brands like Dan Murphy’s, BWS, and ALH Hotels, directly contributing to the group’s mission of creating a more sociable and responsible future.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:
The regulatory legal team is all about providing strategic and targeted advice to the business about its regulatory obligations, and you will be working within a team of lawyers (and supporting compliance specialists within the business) to bring together all of the key elements of our regulatory engagement into the one space, including:
- Regulatory Advisory: Conduct legal research and analysis and provide practical and clear legal advice on regulatory issues including liquor, gaming, tobacco, food and AML/CTF, including the application of relevant laws and regulations in retail, hospitality and gaming environments.
- Enforcement: providing legal advice on enforcement matters and resolution strategies, and represent the organisation in those actions where necessary.
- Advice on Regulated Products: Offer legal guidance on the development, marketing, and control of regulated products. Work closely with relevant teams to address regulatory concerns and manage the risks associated with these offerings.
- Collaboration with relevant stakeholders: Partner with the financial crime, gaming compliance, responsible service of gambling, operations and other legal teams to ensure cohesive legal and compliance strategies, particularly where the service of regulated products is involved. Deliver effective service alongside these teams to Endeavour businesses and brands.
- Case Management: Manage legal cases related to customer disputes or high-risk issues, ensuring timely and efficient resolution, with particular attention to issues arising from regulated services or products.
Now let’s talk about you:
- Law degree and admission to practice as a solicitor.
- 2 - 5 years post admission experience.
- Experience advising clients in a regulated industry, or working with regulators.
- Ability to provide clear, practical, and risk-based legal advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases or projects simultaneously.
- Ability to provide concise advice to stakeholders in a short period of time
Desirable
- Experience in the hospitality, food and beverage, or gambling sectors.
- Experience in customer-facing issues, particularly in handling complaints, disputes, or high-risk customer interactions.
- Previous experience in case management and resolving complex regulatory or legal matters.
