Senior Privacy Officer - Transformation

Job description

About Us

Let’s create a more sociable future together

At Endeavour, we’re totally into what we do. With a portfolio that includes Dan Murphy’s, BWS, ALH Hotels, Pinnacle Drinks and more, we love to bring people together. Together we share our passion for our products and industry; it’s what inspires us to dream big, and continue to create new experiences for our customers and teams across Australia. If you thrive on positive energy, we want to meet you!

About the Role

  • Love what you do and leave your mark
  • Data privacy is a big deal
  • 8 month Fixed Term Contract opportunity

Data privacy is a big deal. You'll help make sure Endeavour is doing it right. Especially with all the new privacy, tech and AI developments in Australia and around the world, this is one of the most exciting spaces to be in at the moment. We are looking for someone who is highly knowledgeable and passionate about privacy, great with people, and ready to dive into a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

This fixed-term senior position reports into the Privacy Lead as a key member of the Privacy Team with dotted line into Head of Transformation - Data & Analytics. The 8 months fixed term contract will end in mid - end December 2026.

Sound good? Read on.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

The role's primary objective is to support the One Endeavour transformation programme and Endeavour's privacy compliance across a broad range of technology and data projects. The role is hybrid - based mostly remotely within Australia, ideally in either Melbourne or Sydney.

Your core responsibilities will include providing expert privacy advice, conducting complex privacy impact assessments and privacy threshold assessments. You may also support the Privacy team in developing and maintaining policies, standards and guidelines, and assisting in the management of privacy incidents and regulatory notifications as well as delivering privacy advice and privacy training and education to the business.

As a key element of the role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Technology, Data & AI, Legal, Cyber, Compliance, and Data Governance, to strengthen privacy culture and awareness, contribute to embedding privacy by design across the organisation and participate in strategic initiatives related to data privacy, including the responsible use of data and AI.

This is a great career opportunity for an experienced legal or privacy professional who wants to undertake diverse, cutting edge privacy work, further their privacy skills, drive the delivery of a privacy framework and gain exposure to AI, data and emerging tech, with plenty of responsibility, autonomy and learning and development opportunities.

What do we need from you

Now let’s talk about you:

The role requires an experienced professional with a strong understanding of privacy law, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills as well as project management skills, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, evolving business environment. The role would suit a self-starter who thrives on plenty of responsibility and keen to deepen their privacy skills.

  • 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in privacy/technology/commercial law or in a privacy regulatory/compliance role. Legal qualifications and training are essential as the role requires solid legal skills and foundational knowledge. Exposure to or experience in the retail and/or gaming industries would be an advantage (but not mandatory).
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to draft privacy advice, conduct privacy impact assessments, and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organisational/project management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, in a fast-paced environment, manage a host of matters and deliver timely and commercial, risk-based, advice.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with privacy frameworks and data governance principles.
  • A keen interest in data, AI, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work as part of a close-knit team, collaborate and share knowledge and support with more junior team members.

The benefits are good too!

  • We offer hybrid ways of working
  • An exclusive discount card for BWS, Dan Murphy’s, Woolworths, BIG W and other Endeavour Group brands, including our ALH pubs
  • Your health and wellbeing is your most important asset, and as one of our valued team members, it’s our first priority. You will have a range of free services to help you live well and support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing
  • Endeavour Group is full of opportunities - use our dedicated learning and development options to grow an idea, yourself, and your career. This is just the start, so dream big.

At Endeavour, we value being a workplace where everyone’s welcome - if you meet a number of the requirements (and not all), we encourage you to apply.
