Sr. Systems Engineer will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Endeavour Group’s systems infrastructure. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our IT systems.
Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of on-prem and cloud infrastructure, from governance and cost management to monitoring, optimisation, and security. As a key member of our IT team, you will collaborate with cross-functional departments to understand business requirements and provide technical expertise, ensuring the seamless integration of cloud- & on-prem resources.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:
1. Systems Design and Architecture:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and design infrastructure solutions in the public cloud and on-prem remits.
- Ability to collaborate with architects to produce infrastructure designs to meet scalability, security, and performance objectives.
- Integrate on-premises technologies such as Windows and Linux operating systems into the cloud architecture.
2. Resource Deployment:
- Deploy and manage virtual machines, containers, and other resources on Azure and GCP according to best practices.
- Utilise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles for consistent and repeatable deployments.
- Integrate and manage on-premises technologies like VMWare, ensuring seamless coexistence.
3. Incident Resolution:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to infrastructure services, applications, and services promptly.
- Provide support for incident management and problem resolution, including troubleshooting Windows and Linux operating systems.
4. Networking Basics:
- Utilise networking basics to troubleshoot production incidents, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance.
- Collaborate with network teams to address and resolve networking-related issues.
5. Governance Policies:
- Establish and enforce governance policies and procedures for cloud and virtualisation
resource usage.
- Ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines and organisational policies.
- Implement on-premises governance policies related to systems and network infrastructure.
6. Cloud Adoption Framework:
- Implement Cloud Adoption Framework and Landing Zones for standardised and secure cloud environments.
- Optimise cloud spending and resource allocation using FinOps principles.
7. Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor Infra resources, applications, and services for performance, availability, and reliability.
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks to improve efficiency and minimise downtime.
8. Automation Scripts:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using languages such as PowerShell, Shell scripting, Terraform, Ansible and templates for provisioning and managing Cloud and on-prem resources.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure consistent and repeatable deployments.
9. Backup Strategies:
- Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud and on-prem based applications and data.
- Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery processes to ensure reliability.
- Manage on-premises backup and disaster recovery solutions, including Nutanix.
10. Security Measures:
- Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard cloud and on-prem based assets and data.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for data privacy and security.
- Apply security measures to on-premises systems, including Active Directory and Domain Controllers.
11. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide technical expertise.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing activities and provide mentorship as needed.
12. Documentation:
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of cloud and on-prem architecture, configurations, and processes.
- Document on-premises infrastructure, including Windows and Linux configurations, Active Directory, VMWare and Nutanix setups
Now let’s talk about you:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer with exposure to public cloud environments like Azure, GCP, AWS and on-prem hosted infrastructure services specifically virtualisation technologies like VMWare and Nutanix.
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
Exposure to multiple platforms and processing environments including working across a range of cloud and on-premises technologies.
Level 2 & 3 technical support and troubleshooting across a range of technologies (including DNS, DHCP, Networking, Wintel systems etc).
Windows and Linux Administration skills including the ability to troubleshoot a diverse range of issues across the cloud and on-prem estate.
Experience with Cloud FinOps i.e. proven ability to recommend initiatives to optimise cloud spend.
Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub.
Experience with designing, deploying, and managing IaaS, SaaS and PaaS solutions across public cloud and on-prem hosted environments.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Networking, Azure Firewall, Azure Virtual Wan, Azure App Services, Azure Function Apps, Logic Apps, Azure Storage, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), etc.
In-depth knowledge of Google Cloud Services like App Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Bigtable, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud DNS, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud Load Balancing, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), VPC Service Controls & Identity & Access Management (IAM)
Working knowledge of ITIL disciplines.
