About the Role

As an integral leader within the State Leadership team, in this Area Manager you will lead and inspire our store leaders and teams to deliver upon all elements of the Dan Murphy's strategy. 

People are at the forefront of our business and your exceptional leadership, commercial acumen and guidance will support development of our team, foster engagement and inspire ways to evolve and improve.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading around 18 stores, comprising 18 store leaders, 36 assistant store leaders and over 350 team members across the Area group in both Melbourne Metro and regional Victoria.

It's an exciting time at Dan Murphy’s where our business is evolving and growing.  You will work closely with the State Manager and your peers to deliver great outcomes and results for our customers and the business, through our people.

You are a person who acts as a true leader and is aligned with our values and ways of working - we keep things simple, especially for our store teams, to ensure we can focus on what’s important - our customers.

Here is a taste of what you can expect in this role:

  • Proactively contribute to the delivery of the Dan’s strategy with the State Leadership team and leading your Area to bring the strategy to life in stores.
  • Communicate and build team commitment to business strategies through creating alignment, providing direction and role clarity, for the  achievement of safety, customer, financial, operational and strategic goals and objectives for the Area.
  • Lead and Inspire your team, fostering a great culture.
  • Lead the delivery on key projects for the State.
  • Analyse key metrics, including customer and team feedback, and provide coaching for each store to achieve Area and state goals.
  • Lead Dan’s transformation and change agenda while maintaining focus on business performance.
  • Develop talent pipelines and future leaders by providing regular feedback to your team, creating meaningful development plans and ensuring succession and ongoing capability is maintained.

To be successful in this role, you will be self driven with a focus on a balance of business results alongside warmth and compassion with a genuine love for team and customer.  Ideally you will demonstrate experience in the following key areas: 

  • Exceptional leadership with a focus on collaboration and stakeholder engagement
  • Proven success as a muti-site retail leader.
  • Ability to influence and drive outcomes for the State and Area group
  • A modern leader with a strong track record of commercial delivery.
  • Innovative, forward thinking and resilient, and an ability to adapt and lead teams through change.
  • A real team player
  • Curiosity to learn and self develop.
