Regulatory Specialist (Responsible Gambling)

The Responsible Gaming Specialist - Regulatory Engagement  is primarily responsible for engaging with regulators in relation in a proactive manner and being the central contact at ALH for investigation requests. This will be underpinned by having a detailed understanding of the regulatory obligations our venues operate in. In addition to this, a key aspect of the role will be to identify and communicate any upcoming changes applicable regulation and communicate this to the wider ALH team. 

The role will report to the Head of Responsible Gaming and will have a range of several internal and external stakeholders and will be responsible for the identification and communication of any regulatory changes and working with the regulator regarding any significant reportable breaches and investigation requests they issue.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Develop and strengthen ALH’s relationship with state regulators
  • Maintain a proactive relationship with state regulators via a structured approach to engagement
  • Communicate to regulators key responsible gaming initiatives ALH are delivering in order to build trust and confidence
  • Advance ALH’s position with state  regulators, so we are in a position to be included  in any working groups, trials or projects of interest
  • Working with Responsible Gaming Team and Government Relations Teams to share learnings, insights and knowledge for engagement purposes
  • Liaise with SLT in relation to key regulatory policy changes and intel received from regulators 
  • Escalate any concerns outlined by the regulators to SLT members and affected teams to ensure appropriate risk is managed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a state based responsible gaming regulatory obligations register (including mapped internal controls)
  • Analyse state and national gaming public policy developments including legislative and regulatory changes for emerging risks and trends
  • Respond in a timely, consistent and professional manner to regulator investigation requests
  • Create reporting to communicate to internal stakeholders status of investigations (including investigation progress, risks and potential impacts to the organisation)
  • Complete trend analysis on risks identified through regulatory investigation requests
     

What do we need from you

Now let’s talk about you: 

  • +3 years experience in regulatory engagement roles
  • Tertiary qualification in law/policy or similar
  • Experience in the gaming or hospitality industry
  • Exposure to responsible gaming principles
  • Understanding of public policy and how it translates in an operational environment
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills to liaise with different aspects of an organisation
  • Experience in managing compliance obligations
  • Track record of creating formal written submissions and presenting to a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to understand the nuanced interplay in the relationship between regulators and industry participants
  • To form an understanding of the interplay between policy, legislation and regulation.
